Do you think Beverly Mayor Cook is asking Jim to pay his child support?

If Jim has not paid the total Court ordered child support, then how is it possible for him to be outside the Beverly City Municipal Court/Police Station and not be arrested for failure to pay.

Isn't he in contempt of court or is he under the protection of Mayor Cook and Council President Five Finger King Louie?

Five Finger King Louie knows lots about protection from legal issues that are a result of his actions. Can we say boom!

FYI Beverly City Tax Payers, Five Finger King Louie verses TP isn't going away and Your King is going to cost you in legal fees with his bone headed actions.

When is City Council going to wake up?

If you Beverly City voters continue to elect these same people to council, then you deserve to pay the cost for the incompetence of the decisions made by the current council members and the responsibility for the continued down fall of Beverly City!

Just look around, is Beverly better off today then when this crop of incompetents were elected?

Unsure if you would want to inclue an article on Meals of Love. Six senior citizens (4 from Edgewater Park) have created Meals of Love. An outreach for those who are having financial difficulties. We offer a free meal and some free shopping from our donations. We are working through Beverly United Methodist Church and all six are members. Would you like to feature our opening dinner? Sept. 19 (Monday) 4 to 6 pm.

Making Hunger Go Away

The scourge of hunger lingers in plain sight and never seems to go away. Beverly United Methodist Church, 133 Warren Street, Beverly, NJ is putting a human face on hunger. Many people don’t like to think about our hungry neighbors who are struggling every day. It never ceases to amaze how quickly trickle-down economic depression can send people into financial need, even those who were well situated a few months ago.

With this in mind, God has called us to a new ministry. Starting mid-September, “Meals of Love” will provide to members of our community and surrounding communities a complimentary meal. We will also distribute, free of charge, personal hygiene items, such as toiletries and other essential items as these items become available.

Because the hungry will always be with us and we wish to turn no one away, on September 19 (Monday) between the hours of 4:00 – 6:00 pm our doors will be open to our neighbors. Our goal is to provide a meal for individuals and families who are experiencing an inability to financially provide for all of their needs. Our research has led us to begin with a monthly dinner (the third Monday of each month) with the hope of increasing our ministry to once a week.

“Meals of Love” is going to need everybody’s help, including yours. We are asking you to join us in this endeavor by partnering with us through a financial gift or donate supplies applicable for this project (such as food items, paper goods, toiletries, etc.). Do not hesitate to contact David Yun, Pastor, Beverly United Methodist Church (201) 870-0023 if you have any questions or concerns. Committee representatives are also available to come to your church or social group to share “Meals of Love” goals and aspirations.

Support Payment Arrest.

"Jim did not "satisfy his obligation to his

son" as reported. He posted his bail and

$500 towards child support. He will be

back in court soon. He still owes $6,700+ in

child support. The real question is "Why is

the EP emergency squad enforcing less

than half of the wage withholding required

by the court?" Is this just another political

favor by Jim's friends?"

To our readers; we agonized for several months about posting this information. You can see from the dates and contents of the emails we received, that we were not going to publish without conformation via public records.
We still held out publishing the information even after receiving a copy of the public record and additional conformation from sources with knowledge of this affair.
We decided to go forward when the picture and story about the subject child was published in the June edition of the Beverly Bee.
The overwhelming purpose for publishing was the fact that Mr. Daly did not take responsibility for his child. Mr Daly's choice in violating his marriage vows is not any ones business except for his family, himself and the person with whom he is carrying on the affair with. This changed when he refused to take responsibility for the child that was the consequence of the affair. This refusal brought his actions into the public domain when he elected not to pay the child support as ordered by the courts.
The mother of this child has borne the total responsibility for this child to date, so she was left with no choice but to take the actions she did to insure that this child receives the support from his father that he rightly is entitled to.
Mr. Daly's actions showed that he didn't worry about how the outcome of having an affair could effect his family or the mother and child of this affair.

If he had done the right thing and taken the financial responsibility upon learning of the pregnancy, none of this would have been a public story. His refusal to take responsibility now has caused much embarrassment, hurt and anxiety for both families.

We all make mistakes in life, but we are measured by how we take responsibility for those mistakes. Mr Daly let his family and his new son down with how he handled his mistake. Don't blame the mother, or us for the actions he elected to take and then excepting the 2010 Edgewater Park Citizen of The Year award knowing he violated his marriage and was refusing to except the financial responsibility for his out-of-wedlock son.

Just remember the child is now without a father to raise him. Too many of our children are in the same situation today and probably are the causes of the societal problems we face.

The order is signed & dated by the judge (second page). Additionally, I've attached the original complaint in this matter containing his address.

If you'd like to check out the order yourself, feel free to do so. The case number is on the document.

His correct marriage status has been corrected by the court as well as his ACTUAL workplace. His workplace has been served with the documents. Call Jim to confirm!

I'm willing to exhaust all efforts (including, but not limited to, pulling tax refunds and revoking his state EMT & mortuary licenses) before he is arrested. I'm working with the court probation dept. diligently in this matter.

We were reluctant to post this information when we were first contacted but with the picture and story that appeared on page 22 of the Beverly Bee June 2011 edition titled "Local Child Star", we felt that the public should be aware of Mr. Daly's avoidance of paying child support.

Mr. Daly is a paid member of the Edgewater Park Sewer Authority and appointed to that position by the Edgewater Park Township Committee and is the Paid Chief of the Beverly-Edgewater Park Emergency Squad that is supported with Taxpayers money as well as a former Township Committeeman and Mayor for Edgewater Park, has shown a disregard of his responsibilities as a father of his child. The Edgewater Park Township Committee has made a mockery of this responsibility by proclaiming him the 2010 Citizen Of The Year knowing that a court order was issued for the payment of Child Support. You have to question the rationale of the township committee in giving this award to Mr. Daly knowing of that he was a dead beat dad ignoring his responsibilities to his child. No wonder our township is in the shape that it is.

Beverly Residents, The King is on the Job!

King Five Finger Louie on the job. Now we know why the Safe is on his front porch. Perhaps the he was confused (under the influences) and put the bomb in his gas tank by mistake, instead of the safe on his front porch.

A good question to ask is why the King has ordered the Good Old Gerber Boy to issue tickets to residents for parking the wrong way, when it was ok for him to park his truck and trailer on the City owned property across from his house or his Best Buddy blocking the public sidewalk.

Speaking of the Kings House, we think he is setting an example for the residents of Beverly on how to win a property tax appeal! If his house was next to yours and you submitted pictures, you would win hands down for living in a blighted neighborhood. The changes you see in Beverly housing conditions, shows that King Five Finger Louie is a trend setting example for us Beverly Residents and we are following his fine example. King Louie, is the couch that is outside in your yard, there because it may contain DNA evidence from the Chick-fill-A babe or is it the 7/11 babe? We would be careful with the 7/11 babe, she may be a little young!!, but then again you must think that you still have your SNITCH Protection and no one can touch you, right!!!

The King claims that the Girls have dropped their Lawsuits (we didn't publish his comment because of the language he used). Is this true? Or did they receive a big cash payout to drop the charges and cover his actions up?

The King also likes making comments about the School Board. Well, at least the School Board lowered taxes while increasing services to the Students of Beverly. The only lowering claim that the King can make is that he is lowering the housing reputation of Beverly City.

Lets see if this information makes the BCT.

The King Five Finger Louie Bomb and soon it will explode with scandal and charges of financial mismanagement along with the loss of our city insurance carrier

King Louie has a track record of inappropriate behavior and was verbally reprimanded by council in closed session (several years ago) for his inappropriate actions towards former city employees.

We like how his minions have sent comments to the BCT and this blog accusing the people who filed charges against him (notice how it is always only the King) of being sluts.

The King's record speaks for itself. Oh Louie, is your past coming back to bite you? Remember the court only cares about the facts not the spin you try and peddle around town every day.

Now the problem for the residents of Beverly is that they will have to pay for the King's actions in the form of higher taxes for settlement cost and legal fees.

Tick-tick-tick-tick and soon "All the King's Men (1949)",
will not be able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

We are just waiting for the other shoes to fall and go Boom King Louie. Time for Beverly Residents to wake-up and make changes because if they don't, be prepared to pay big time tax increases for legal fees.

Did anyone see Gary Slumlord C. plowing during the storms? Be careful driving around town because most streets are still covered with snow even after the rain.

Maybe the Kings actions around the ladies are the reasons he keeps getting elected!

We think its time for a major distraction to be perpetrated by the King, so Beverly be prepared!

I think these women need to add you gossips to their lawsuit for Character Assasination! Obviously you are not familiar with sexual harrassment policy and the sunshine law. If you are management you cannot submit your employees to a "hostile" work environment. It can be as simple as telling a dirty joke that someone may find offensive. And yes personnel issues are usually discussed in executive session unless the personnel that is being discussed requests it in an open meeting. Also, how do you know that someone slept with the boss? Unless you were the boss, a peeping tom or in the room it is heresay. And so what if she did? She is not the Supervisor in this instance, and the Supervisor is the one that is guilty of taking advantage of his "power" position and "sexual harassment".
This isn't the 1950's people! You sound like a bunch of old biddies on a street corner gossiping because you don't have an interesting life. And Kevin 1270, you sure seem to get around the police depts. and know the inside scoop or so it seems. Just the other day you were dishing on Lumberton too. It must be hard to keep up on everyone.

Mr. Crespo and his family have been the target of constant haters ever since he changed parties from Republican to Democrat when he was elected. Dawn never did her job, that's why she was fired. No meeting minutes, no time sheets ever submitted, hiring her daughters without council approval...I could go on and on. Theresa was convinced by Dawn's manipulation to sue the city to make her case stronger. It’s all in executive minutes, oh that right there are no executive minutes even though it is require by law. He was reprimanded then by council but no one wanted to lost there job so they left it up to council to handle it. As you can see the behavior continued. I totally agree with you Jerseygirl. I,ve been to the council meetings and seen him in action, this one time he went after a female member accusing her of calling dyfs, now he didnt say her name outright but his behavior was very unprofessional making comments and faces and directing it towards this woman,it was totally outragous i couldnt get over how he made the whole meeting about him.And it was because his kids didnt wear shoes in the summer, the whole thing was rediculous. And the stories go on and on about his personal witchhunts and vendettas using this town to feel self important.He feels women are beneath him actually worthless. I wish there were more people not afraid to tell their own stories, enough is enough, I agree about the money but think about how bad it had to be for them to come to this im sure they knew what would come after and have to be brave enough to stand alone, we can all be supportive or not but in the end it still winds up on them. Since certain people like bringing up the past with Dawn and Theresa, what about Crespo’s past? This wasn’t the first time he has harassed and intimidated people. This is not the first time he exhibited public displays of physical violence and it is not the first time he terminated or tried to terminate employees wrongfully. While it may be true the clerk did not produce the minutes as required, could it be that he was always in her office, thus preventing her from doing her job? AND he, as Council President, has a responsibility to ensure the business of the City is being conducted as required by law, as do the rest of the members of City Council.

Then there is his abuse of office and abuse of power. Lest we forget how he cost the City money by having the City’s attorney represent him when he demanded to be made a Fire Commissioner. When he fixed the election by having his co-conspirators write him in so that he could finish the vendetta he had with the fire department.

He is a liar, a thief, a conniver and a womanizer. The City is best served liberated from his influence. A nice start would be an orange jumpsuit.

"Here are the FACTS residents of Beverly!

Tony never signed any deal or contract with City Hall, but Crespo did!

That's right Louis! You tried to weasel your way out of being exposed, but Tony said NO! He has nothing to hide, but you do, which is why you wanted him to take a deal.

Then when you thought you won, you shot your mouth off to everyone, that Tony is moving on. But wait! In doing so, which again, was not true, you AGAIN exposed yourself, and the good citizens of Beverly/ since they are the ones who pay taxes, and NOT you! You scumbag ( opps- we forgot, you need a job to pay taxes!) to a huge lawsuit, since any agreement, factual or not, is CONFIDENTIAL!

The true FACT is that Tony did not even know about any proposed deal, until Crespo unlawfully told everyone about it, and Tony was called by several Officers who told him. Once Tony was made aware of it-- NO Deal!

Hmmmm, first you made him take a physiological test, thinking //well at least praying that he would fail, (unlike you Crespo who HAS failed several physiological testings- yea- didn't think we knew about that did you??!!) but he did not, as we knew and this really screwed up your plans, since the charges themselves are nothing more than phony bullshit complaints to begin with.

Sure, we confirmed that the Prosecutors Office merely "recommended" complaints, but ONLY based upon your statements to them, which are total lies and nothing more than a coward trying to get rid of a person who refuses to bow down to a lying piece of shit like you, who constantly gets himself involved in things he should not, and Tony / Mike Morton and Batb Shiepe REFUSED to allow it, so you went after all three.

You are a bully, a sneak, a LIAR, and a mentality ill person.

You refused Tony a lie detector test, because you knew that would clear his name! Coward! You also REFUSED to answer any questions put forth, like a real man, and instead you simply talk about things that have nothing to do with any questions asked!

Residents and Service Providers not able to call Beverly City Hall last week

Because the phone bill wasn't paid!

Now you will hear different stories from the City Clerk and from the Mayor.

The Clerk claims that the old service provider turned off the phone service before the new phone company turned on the new service (the City was without phone service for a least 2 days) and Mayor Cook was telling residents that it was a wiring problem.

We think it was an incompetence problem on the part of the officials running the City.

But guess what City Residents, not only isn't the City paying the phone bill, they have not paid a local mechanic who repaired a city vehicle, but will not return his phone calls.

Could the state of Beverly's finances be the reason that the former CFO quit?

We also understand that Officer Pearce wanted to take a lie detector test concerning the charges brought against him by Beverly City Officials, but that the City refused this.

Gee, why would the City not want Tony to take a lie detector test?

Is it possible the City may have something to hide? (if you don't think so, just put in and OPRA request for records that the City has, and see how long if ever they comply with that request, like King Louie's building permits or the 2010 budget)

We do know that the City has problems finding its records and like most of the business conducted at City Hall, it is who your friends are that determines how and what gets overlooked.

We received this information and photos from our undercover reporter on yesterday's activities by our city officials. We have to ask, is this why nothing has been reported on the fraudulent bomb scare, that was perpetrated on the citizens and businesses of Beverly City?

Is the King going to get away with another one? The unpublished comments to this blog are 5 to 1 that he will get away with it again. Friends in high places are protecting the snitch according to sources in the know of his past escapades.

Beverly City residents, all elections are important and the upcoming School Board election is no exception.

If King Louie is successful in getting his wife re-elected on Tuesday, he will control the City of Beverly and its future.

If you want to know how this election possibility can effect the future of Beverly City, just take a ride past 623 Broad Street and look how he takes care of his own home and that should give you an indication of what the future of Beverly will look like if he gets control of our schools.

We thought that the Beverly Democrat and Republican parties agreed to keep the School Board elections non political but it appears this only applies to everyone else but Crespo!

If you really care about your children and the education they will get from our schools, please read the background bios of the candidates running for the school board election. This should make your selection of who to vote for very easy.

We couldn't help but note the signs asking for us to vote for the Crespo faction and who owns the homes were the signs are located. Now the question is, who paid for the signs and why.

You can't have the City and Prosecutors look like they made a mistake, so there is one remaining charge that keeps a good officer from the city streets where he is needed and because he was first in line for Police Chief, this keeps him out so that King Louie can place Car 54 as Chief instead of Officer Pearce.

We see that Car 54 still is parking his auto on the sidewalk across the street from his house, but understand from King Five Finger Louie's comments not published, that Car 54 is special and married to a City Council Member, he doesn't need to follow the City Ordinances like the King, like the rest of us city taxpayers. But we forgot, the King not only doesn't have to get his building permits closed out, he doesn't have to pay his taxes, because he is the King.

Now we also hear that the other special Beverly person, GC is a little bit miffed about the King and Queen giving all the zoning breaks to the Convent Affordable Housing Slum King because it will drive down the rents GC charges for his slum apts. One has to wonder if we will have a rumble in the jungle at the riverfront between the "Italian Stallion" and "La Cucaracha King Five Finger Louie". We would pay good money to watch that fight.

I sometimes receive questions that I think may be of general interest.

QUESTION:

Usually several people address my Township Council during the portion
of its meetings set aside for public comment. Yet, nothing of what
these people say is captured in the minutes. While I don't expect a
verbatim report of the comments, I would expect something to the
effect of "Mrs. Jones commented on the proposed raise of ..." or
"Mrs. Jones inquired about ....". The minutes do not even capture
the fact that Mrs. Jones spoke at the public session. Is this lawful?

ANSWER:

N.J.S.A. 10:4-14 require public bodies to keep "reasonably
comprehensible minutes" of its meetings. Unfortunately, there is no
published case law addressing the question of whether recording the
identities of public speakers and substance of what they said is
within the definition of "reasonably comprehensible."

The only New Jersey case that I know of where this question was
addressed is O'Shea v. West Milford Township Council, et al, (Passaic
County, Docket No. L-2229-04, Passero, A.J.S.C.). Copies of the
relevant case documents are available on-line at
http://ogtf.lpcnj.org/2009172pj/WestMilfordMinutes.pdf

The second page of Judge Passero's order requires the sued public
body to include within its meeting minutes "the person's name,
address and a summary of the comments made." On pages 15 and 16 of
the transcript (page 10 and 11 of the PDF file), Judge Passero
explains why this information is important. "A summarization [in the
minutes of what members of the public said is important] because it
alerts the public as to the issues framed, or, for example, a board
said, we had no notice of this. We had no knowledge of this. Here
are the minutes where somebody said, I want to point out this, this,
this. It also goes to notice. So make [the minutes] a little more
comprehensible and you say [sic] stay out of court."

So, according to Judge Passero's reasoning, including a summary of
what each member of the public said prevents the public body from
later claiming that it had no knowledge of the issue. For example,
if a member of the public, at the June 2, 2010 meeting, publicly
complains of stop sign obscured by vegetation, and on September 4,
2010, there is a fatal accident caused by a motorist not being able
see the obscured stop sign, it is important that the minutes of the
June 2, 2010 meeting reflect that the body was on notice of but
failed to correct the problem.

Judge Passero's ruling is an unpublished, trial court decision and is
not binding precedent. However, it might persuade other courts to
rule similarly. I suggest bringing the ruling to the attention of
your public body and ask them whether they will act in accordance
with Judge Passero's ruling even if they are not bound by it.

But by ignoring the law and waging this write-in campaign, he deprived the voters of the election of a fireman who got the next highest vote.

The law governing fire commissions say that if the winner of an election cannot or will no serve, the remaining members of the commission appoint a replacement until next year.

Now since the head of the fire commission is also the Democratic Party head in Beverly and since Luis must be doing some obscure favors for her, guess the people's choice will be denied again thanks to corrupt politics.

Luis is not the only du-g cranium on council. Most of his cronies qualify including Five Finger Louie's choice of City Attorney Skippy."

I know this is a hard concept for you to try and understand, but Don Arter and Robert Dovey are no longer public officials and so any personal issues that you try and bring up with your comments about them (not published), has no baring on the fact that Luis Crespo, who is your good buddy, along with his wife (School Board Member) are current elected public officials thus making their personal records relevant.

The fact that you see nothing wrong with an elected official who votes on City issues effecting someone who employees them as a contractor, or who owes back taxes on City property, or who conducts a write-in campaign for City Fire Commissioner knowing that he could not serve both elected positions by state law and who campaigned to get his wife elected to the City School Board, shows that you along with your good buddy, have some serious ethics problems and are a detriment to your qualifications for the position of City Police Chief.

When you are an elected official, your life is an open book for the public to examine so that the public can determine if you are someone they want to represent them in spite of your record. In many cases the public will elect you even with a tainted record, as in the case of Marion Barry in Washington DC.

After emailing both Don and Bob to see if they were intending to run for any public office and receiving the answer of no from both, the Edgewater Park Reporter has determined that their personal history has no baring on our publishing of LC's record, because he is an elected public official.

We also want to point out that there is never any excuse for public corruption, the personal use of government property or influence peddling. We will expose anyone who is an elected public official and carrying out these practices while in office.

If you really want to be Police Chief, I would be careful as to whom I am associating with and remember, when you try and damage someones reputation who you see as competition, well many times it comes back to bite you in the ass.

Loved your blogs, found your site while looking for info on Gary C.See I live near his parents and see lots of things happening over there.For instance a large tree being surgically removed from the front of their place by Nelson tree service, I spoke to the crew to have some work done and the foreman informed me that this was a political deal and they do not do homes unless wire safety issues are present but 2 doors down a tree had a wire growing practically thru it.

Today I witnessed Garry driving a snow plow with municipal tags, doing his parents driveway approx 100 ft backing up and filling Melbourne ave with the snow and doing a really swell job of completely cleaning the road and front of the house all the way to the curb including the street.Meanwhile the street is full of cars that cannot get out due to the previous city hired plow job but the Centanaro property is clean as a whistle.

This has been happening for years but me and neighbors have been taking notice lately but what really pisses me off is my tax dollars are being used for personal issues and also why in the hell is he given a new black truck with municipal tags as his daily ride ?

Sorry to go on but I really feel like this individual is screwing everyone, during my surfing I see he is connected to many organizations and it looks like he is on the board in Florence Twp also ?

You see, Edgewater Park Reporter, we are an environmental, Organic facility, so to show the world that we didn't need to "gut this old bank building and fill our landfills with debri", we have used the entire bank just as Ethel Budden, Dave Parker, Bob Notigan, and Harry Van Sciver (God Rest his sole) left it....the teller windows are now (1) the Soup bar (2) Pastry bar (3) quiche bar (4) sandwich bar (5) coffee tea bar. Remember those offices where you signed the paper to take out a loan from the old Beverly Bank? Well, those offices are lovely quaint private dining rooms filled with antiques and collectibles that you can purchase. But don't take my word for it, stop in and get one of our "Green" post cards with the Menu on the back.

We are Organic (no chemicals on the ground where animals are raised, no hormones/toxins in the feed they are fed,) and other "healthy" foods grown locally, and provided from South Jersey Organic Farmers. We serve only 3 sandwiches (1) Roast Pork Loin (2)roast Eye Beef (3) Roast Breast of Chicken, and we serve it with an Organic healthy slice of tomato & lettuce, but if you want to "doctor it up" we have a variety of barbque sauces to add. Today we have home made rice pudding with whipped cream, pumpkin pie, blackberry , poppy seed biscuits, spiced cup cakes, applesauce raisin/walnut, and chocolate chocolate cake. Our soups are always chili, and beef barley, but today I've made a terrific "Steak and Potatoes Soup" which will be ready tomorrow.

Our Coffee is Organic, and I heard some one at the "Blog" wasn't educated in just what was and was not Organic...It's a "seal" given by the federal government, and we have Organic coffee. Also we have about 30 Herbal Teas and fancy earl gray black teas, english breakfast, camomile, mine, and chai. Doesn't matter if you have a "cup" or ask for one of our "antique Tea Pots", the price is still $2.00.

Subject: Closing of Beverly National Cemetery and Wasteful spending

Today, I had 2 women who went jogging in the Beverly National Cemtery, as most of us have done in the past. They were approached by an employee who handed them a "brochure" stating that no one is allowed to job, run, exercise in the cemetery, and that there are federal charges of $500 for each offense. A day later an elderly couple came into the Café, and reported the same thing happened to them, as they were walking to exercise after a heart surgery. Both groups were very upset, so I e mailed Bev. National Cemetery Director, Mr. White, and as a result of my e mail he came to my "Green Café" with his "Handy" veteran employee.

After several words these facts came to pass. The Beverly Bee's Owner, Bev Haaf had already interview Mr. White, who said they are moving the head quarters to a gigantic new building at Washington's Crossing and that the Beverly office will be closed, it's employees replaced with "veteran own contractors" who don't have to hire veterans, or American Citizens to cut the grass and trim around the tomb stones. Other than "Veteran Contractors" who will visit the site for cutting, Mr. White said " his staff will have a presence at the Cemetery".

Now, It seems to me that just having spent several million dollars (with more to come) to dig up the grass, spray poison to kill the old grass, and they put sod on the cemetery, that it would have been worth keeping the cemetery open. Seems to me that the other million that was spent to "lift every tomb stone" and "re set it", almost as straight as it use to be, was indeed a waste of good money that could have been spent on giving better living conditions to our "alive" veterans and their families.

So we have it, now that the "stimulus" money was "blown" on the poison/sod/lifting, now we can't afford to keep a staff at this building. There was not enough staff to put a "flag on each grave", but we learned to appreciate that idea when Director Delores Blake, used the funding to put "teak benches" in the cemetery, so elderly, could sit and ponder. It seems the money is gone to buy new poles for the "Avenue of the Flags" that we put up in 1970's -- my grand fathers, uncles and fathers flags....gone for ever....Only a few were up this year and the cemetery looked vacant.

Mrs. Haaf interview Mr. White and suggested he do a "letter to the Editor" but as of yet, I have seen nothing that will indicate the National Cemetery System's "view point" on keeping Tax Paying residents from walking, and exercising in the cemetery, but allowing "non americans" in to cut the grass and trim, and waste money on sod and have nothing left to keep open the building. Please feel free to call the Beverly National Cemetery and find out for yourself how we are being "Abandoned" by the Veterans Administration for their "cushy, new, expanded Head quarters" just a few miles north.

I was reading my morning paper and noticed inside an article about medical marijuana bill, a story about the Assembly passing a change to Beverly's Charter. Perhaps it was an oversight or perhaps the reporter knows our former local medicinal provider.

The passing of the two bills could be renamed the "Lou Crespo Special" being the medical marijuana bill AND the radical changes to Beverly were approved. I have to wonder if the Assembly members took a smoke break and were in such a haze that the Beverly issue didn't even matter.

Mayor Cook wants to reduce elections in Beverly. Hello? it's called accountability. So if Beverly is going down the drain we have to wait four or five years before we can voice our opinions at the polls. We all have seen that public comments don't sway the members, they do as they please. But what if they Really got out of hand? Oh well, wait until 2015....

Also the article states transitional terms may be "one, four, and five years"? Really, why doesn't Crespo just ask for 10 to 20? I am sure he is used to hearing those terms.

I think I'll go have a democrat brownie now and forget all the troubles of the world...

Edgewater Park, Did You Get Your New Sewer Bill?

The new Edgewater Park Sewer Tax just jumped from $60 dollars at quarter to $81.25 a quarter. That's a whopping 35.4% increase.

Just one year ago the sewer tax was $50 dollars a quarter so the Edgewater Park Sewerage Authority has raised your sewer tax by 62.5%.

Wow, what a great job you have done running the Edgewater Park Sewerage Authority, Chairman Dave Levay, Co-Chairman James Hall, James Daly, Lester Holley and Geraldine Wing. You have done such a fantastic job increasing our sewer tax by 62.5% in the short time you have been in control of the EPSA.

I guess you lied Chairman Levay! The following is what was reported last year in this blog on Monday, July 14, 2008 (link to story).

Chairman Dave goes to great lengths to explain how all of the additional expenses for moving, new employees, additional hours for payroll, additional cost for the employee benefits, additional utility cost, additional rent, additional legal cost and potential new equipment, are not going to affect the current sewerage rates.

Chairman Dave is right on this point, because what he didn't tell you is that the rates have been set for this year (2008), and it is next year that the rates will see the affects of all this new spending.

Chairman Dave also explains that the move was
provided for by surplus funds in the budget. What Chairman Dave didn't tell you was that the Auditor stated in his verbal comments, made while presenting his 2007 audit report to the Authority Members at the Authorities 2008 budget meeting, that the Authority lost money during the 2007 operating year, and based on the expected increases in operating expenses for 2008, the Authority should consider increasing the sewer tax to offset those increased cost. The Auditor's comments were made prior to the unplanned additional cost associated with the move, additional employees and legal cost Chairman Dave spoke about in his article.

Chairman Dave and the Authority are about to do to the Edgewater Park sewer tax payers, what the Township Committee did to the Edgewater Park taxpayers over the past 4 years. Chairman Dave and the Authority, will deplete the surplus for day to day expenses and then increase the sewer taxes next year to cover the additional operating expenses for this year.

Did you also see were Chairman Dave and the Authority also want the Sewer Authority Rate Payers to also pay to expand sewers to areas of Edgewater Park that do not have sewer now? This is a great deal for Developers, so now they can build residential high density housing on land that was supposed to be preserved for farmland or open space, and who now will not need to pay for that expenses, and we the Sewer Tax Payers get to pick up the tab.

See what happens when you keep electing and re-electing politicians who raised your local municipal property taxes 87.5% during the 10 years they have controlled our township committee and who appointed the current Edgewater Sewerage Authority Members who raised our sewer tax 62.5% in 1 year!

Keep it up Edgewater Park, keep rewarding financial and managerial incompetence and see how long you can afford to live here and pay your taxes!

To JB and other anonymous critics, give the readers a good reason why the facts presented, are not factual or why these tax increases are an example of good governance.

I can't wait for your response and yes you are right, this is about sour grapes. Sour grapes about how our town being mismanaged!

Beverly City Council President doesn't have to follow building inspection laws

623 Broad Street (Block 46, Lot 8) is the blue half of the twin house and 625 (Block 46, Lot 9) is the white half of the twin. (Check the date on the photo)

If you go to the Burlington County Web site, click on Departments, then click on Board of Taxation, then click on Tax Record Search you enter the District via the drop down menu as well as the Block and Lot numbers for the properties to verify the information published or click on the following links, Crespo and Crispo.

You will see that Beverly City Council President Louis Crespo owns 623 Broad St and Co-owns 625 Broad St with Council Woman Elect Barbara Kelly even though Louis's last name is spelled different (Crispo instead of Crespo).

Now if you look closely at the addition that has been built on the back of the two properties, you will note that the addition does not have a party wall between the two properties. This lack of a fire party wall is a violation of the NJ building codes as well as a problem for the mortgage holders. It is also known that a doorway has been cut between the two homes without a building permit.

Mr Crespo was taken to municipal court (case was held in EP because of Mr. Crespo being on Council) and was found guilty of not applying for a building permit and was fined.

Mr Crespo then filed for a building permit but after two years has not called for an inspection and closeout. This means that the City of Beverly has not received any additional tax for the improvement and no inspectors have verified the workmanship, safety or conformance to building codes for the work done by Mr. Crespo.

Why has this flaunting of the Beverly City Zoning and Building codes being allowed?

Because Mr Crespo can do what he wants and there is no one in Beverly who will hold him accountable. Now that Mr. Crespo has won re-election and his co-owner of 625 Broad St is about to be sworn in as a new Councilwoman, just think of what other laws he will exempt himself from.

Those of you in Beverly that have run afoul of Beverly City Council President Louis Crespo in the past, better look out. In fact you may want to move quickly because he is about to make his new neighbor JB the Police Chief.

What is hard to understand, why are the rest of the City Council going along with Louis's antics. Many of the Council Members are fine upstanding, law abiding residents who would never think to abuse their authority like Louis.

We will be asking for copies of the outstanding building permits for 623 and 625 Broad Street as well as any public records. We will publish copies of them for your information.

One last comment! Just you try and build an addition on your house and see if you can get away with what Louis Crespo ala Luis Crispo has! Oh I forgot, he won re-election and so he is now King Luis or is it King Louis?

News Flash-Beverly-Edgewater Park Emergency Squad Members Removing Political Signs on Warren St with Ambulance

I received a report today, November 5th at 4:00 pm, that Mr Daly, President of the Beverly-Edgewater Park Emergency Squad as well as other squad members were removing election signs from a former township committeeman's property on Warren Street. They were placing the signs into the ambulance.

Nice use of paid EMT's and taxpayer funded equipment. The Township Committee budgeted $32,000 tax dollars for the Emergency Squad, who now charges for emergency calls.

I wonder how much they charged Doc for removing the political signs from his lawn?

All kidding aside, this is an example of how our tax dollars are being misused. I hope no one was in need of the squad at that time.

New Edgewater Park Township Committee members, I hope you look into this and take appropriate action. I know Mr. Daly is a former committeeman and current member of your political parties county committee, but he and the Emergency Squad's Board of Directors need to see that this type of activity never happens in the future and disciplinary action is taken against Mr Daly, who knows better.

I can't wait to see next years tax increase.

Isn't it wonderful that we Edgewater Park voters, just rewarded our elected officials who raised our taxes 87.5% during the past ten years as well as reducing municipal services and increasing the municipal debt at the same time.

Just contrast our local tax increase and services record with that of our Burlington County Freeholders for the same time period.

The contrasts between these records are shown in the chart above and is the difference between good and bad management.

Can you tell who we voted for and rewarded with our trust? No it is not the Freeholders who kept our taxes within the rate of inflation but the township committee who raised our taxes 87.5%.

Kind of mind boggling isn't it. Four hundred plus Edgewater Park voters think this is a good record and a good job by the elected officials who have run Edgewater Park in nine of the past ten years.

I say we residents get a petition going to merge Edgewater Park with Willingboro and Beverly, because those towns have done such a good job with increasing their taxes and cutting services with their one party rule. By merging towns we can bring ourselves down to their level and have their housing values. What a goal!

Good job with your educated 1,300 votes and congratulations Amy and John, on your victory. Be prepared for your indoctrination by the Administrator who after all really runs the show in Edgewater Park.

One last point! With Chris Christie as our new Governor, I don't think you can expect him to approve any more 'Willingboro Bad Governing Type Bailouts' so pucker-up and get the KY jelly out because nothing is going to change. Just take your present municipal tax bill and apply the 87.5% tax increase and you will see what you will be paying in ten years for your municipal taxes. Can you afford that kind of a tax increase?

Your problem is that you think if you whine loudly enough or toss enough insults in with you're whining comments, the hundreds of readers of this Blog will disregard the facts published in this blog.

Well, you're whining vicious comments (most of your comments are unfit to publish) are nothing more than a smokescreen to hide the fact that you cannot present any facts to refute what is published in this blog.

Beverly and Edgewater Park voters, please read the BCT Voters Guide with information published today (10/29) concerning the candidates who running for Beverly Council and for the Edgewater Park Township Committee.

It should be apparent on who you should be voting for after reading the BCT Election Guide if you think on it without political prejudice.

Think, do you want a former drug dealer turned snitch with light fingers, a former drug abuser/user, someone who has not been able to keep his job as the head of two municipal police depts as your elected officials? I hope not for our communities sake!

The intelligent candidates should be very apparent to you after you read the BCT Voters Guide. You should also consider the candidates and their known past track records and performances. Hopefully you will vote for the best qualified candidates, no matter what their party affiliation is, so that we get the best person with integrity, intelligence and management skills needed run our towns. Then maybe things will begin to change for the better and our tax increases you drop below the rate of inflation.

I just want to point out one additional fact about the political makeup of the Beverly City School Board because the BCT reporter failed to. The following facts show that the current City Council President has a problem telling the truth according to his statement printed in the 10/28/09 BCT article, unless he was miss quoted in the BCT (I doubt it). The Current Beverly School Board political breakdown is as follows; 2 Democrats, 2 Republicans and 1 Undeclared. The School Board vote to have the suit brought against the City Council was 5 to 0 to proceed. So how is that political Mr. City Council Prez?

Ask yourselves this question. Are families and people clamoring to move to our towns? Based on the real-estate numbers the answer is a big no.

Why? Well the truth will set you free!

It is the Camden/Trenton/Newark mentality of our current elected officials that is destroying our communities.

Time to clean out the trash and vote for good people and not because of their political party.

Edgewater Park this is why your taxes are increasing at a rate far greater than your paycheck!

Edgewater Park receives Four (4) proposals to undertake a complete revaluation of all real property within its jurisdiction (see below) and guess what! They do not accept the lowest bid. Instead they take the next bid that is $3,300 higher. Why did they do this you ask? Well, that very same question was asked last week by Allen Ashinoff, who is a candidate for township committee, at the Edgewater Park Township Committee Public Meeting. He received the following explanation from Township Administrator Linda Dougherty. Because Vital Communications, Inc. supplies the Tax Assessment program used by the township, they felt that Vital would provide smoother interface with taxpayers and the Tax Assessor. Bullshi-!!, she thinks they will make her job easier.

The following are the facts that can be verified and prove that the reasons given by the Administrator are bogus.

Fact;

Appraisal Systems, Inc the lowest bider has provided revaluation services for over 100 municipalities in NJ who are using Vital Communications Assessment programs in their municipality with no taxpayers/Assessor problems.

Fact;

Appraisal Systems have provided revaluation services for many Burlington County Municipalities most recently Bordentown Twp.

Fact;

The State of NJ only allows certified Re-val Firms that are approved by the NJ to bid on municipal revaluation projects. They also must approve the award of all revaluation contracts.

Fact;

Because this project must be carried out only by a professional services firm approved by the NJ Dept. of the Treasury, the township doesn't have to pick the lowest bid, under NJ Local Public Contracts Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:11-1 et. seq.

Fact;

This loophole cost the Edgewater Park Taxpayers $3,300 dollars for no additional services.

Please check out these facts because you will not read about it in the BCT.

The Township Committee/Administrator just finished telling us taxpayers how they did everything in their power to keep the tax increase down and that was one of the reasons they needed to cut funding/support for the 2009 Memorial Day Parade, well the extra $3,300 dollars could have allowed for Edgewater Park to support the Memorial Day Parade.

This is indicative of the decisions made by an incompetent Township Committee and administrator who only care about the special interest that support their elections and lifestyles. Gee we couldn't ask the Administrator to work and look out for the Edgewater Park Taxpayer could we after all, she has her own businesses to look after.

You the Edgewater Park Taxpayer can stop this abuse of our taxes by exercising you right to vote next week. We need to elect people who will stand up to a bully who has been leading the present township committee people around by their noses. The time to stop this abuse and bulling is now for your own good and the good of our town.

Beverly Taxpayers, the City has used up its 9 lives with this bunch and it only took them 2 years to do it. Just think what they can do if they are given another 4 with no watch dogs. You all will be sitting at your kitchen table scratching your head and wondering how you one nice town ended up like Trenton.

Scott Hitchner has withdrawn as a candidate for City Council in Novembers General Election and also resigned his seat on city council as of 6:30 p.m. on September 16th(Link to BCT article).

After reading the story, I was brought to tears by all the reasons poor Scott gave for resigning. Hell I thought he was Five Finger Louie speaking instead of Scott but no such luck taxpayers.

I just want to point out, Scott has never been the subject of any comments or articles on this blog. I guess he just felt so bad about how Five Finger Louie's plans have been exposed, that he just felt he could no longer continue his public service. Could it be he doesn't want to be around when Five Finger Louie's story hits the proverbial fan? Who knows and who cares. Carpetbagger is what he is, or should I say he was.

Edgewater Park, the planning board gave both preliminary and final approval to the high density project on the old Kings property. The granting of preliminary as well as final approval is almost never done by other towns, only in Edgewater Park. Bad bad bad! Oh well just goes along with deals like the Coat Factory Tax abatement deal. Both of the Democratic Candidates for township committee in the November General Election are on the planning board. This action should give you an indication that they will continue the same record as the existing township members. How can you say, raise my taxes again, we love it. Keep giving away the house to your contributors, at the expense of us who are taxpayers. Oink! oink!

We also want to point out that Mayor Donna Mount (Atzert), Sewer Authority Chairman Dave Levay, Committeeman Kevin Johnson as well as Committeeman Kevin Johnson's wife Marian Johnson Chairwoman of the Planning Board as well as Aimee Belgard and John McElwee who are the two Democratic Committee Candidates in November are responsible for this vote. Nice cozy group isn't it. Well pucker up and get ready for the big tax banana coming your way Edgewater Park. Oh did I mention that you should expect to pay for the sewer lines to be installed on Rt 130, not the developer. No? Well to bad, because Administrator Linda Dougherty and Sewer Authority Chairman Dave Levay want it done with the sewer taxpayers money and know one on township committee have the balls to stop them.

The Edgewater Park Sewer Authority was the subject of conversation during the July meeting of the Willingboro MUA. Evidently the Edgewater Park Sewer Authority has not paid the Willingboro MUA for services rendered.

The following is taken from the July Minutes of the Willingboro MUA.

"The Treasurer said that he had a conversation with the Executive Director of the Edgewater Park Sewerage Authority about the unpaid bill that was due in June.

He continued that their Executive Director provided answers that didn’t make sense to him and seemed just to be excuses, the conversation ended abruptly.

The Executive Director said that he too expressed concern to the Edgewater Park Sewerage Authority’s Executive Director, Mr. Conard, and met with him last week. He said that one of the reasons given by Mr. Conard was that they did not receive the meter readings from New Jersey American Water co. until a few days ago.

Mr. Bateman said that he suggested to Mr. Conard that we prepare the quarterly billing and forward it to them for payment.

Mr. Conard was agreeable to that and Mr. Bateman explained that the Treasurer had prepared an Excel Spreadsheet for the Edgewater Park Sewerage Authority many years ago that only required them to enter commercial water meter readings. This amounted to about 90 meter readings out of a total of nearly 4,000 accounts.

He said our Billing Clerk would use this spreadsheet to prepare our invoice to

Edgewater Park Sewerage Authority and that we would get the meter readings from New Jersey American Water Co.

He also said that Mr. Conard would now prepare the payment to us for their quarter ending May 2009 so that we could expect a check in August." 21 July 2009

WILLINGBORO MUNICIPAL UTILITIES AUTHORITY Minutes pg. 148 & 149

Something is wrong with the management of the Edgewater Park Sewerage Authority if they did not pay the quarterly bill to the Willingboro MUA for the services they provide or realize that they owed this money. The statement by the Willingboro MUA Treasure's comment that, " their (EPSA) Executive Director provided answers that didn’t make sense to him and seemed just to be excuses", the conversation ended abruptly.

The Willingboro MUA provides the Waste treatment services as well as other maintenance services for the Edgewater Park Sewerage Authority and is the largest payable liability that the EPSA has. It is something that you would think would have been noticed by the EPSA Board Chairman and Board Members as well as the Executive Director.

This may just be the tip of the iceberg of problems occurring with the EPSA. Just remember and look at your sewer bill that you just received last month and compare it to your August 2008 bill. Did you notice the increase? Well be prepared for more increases.

The EPSA is also looking to expand sewer lines to the pending commercial development on Rt 130 at the Sewer Tax Payers expense. The Township Committee has replaced all of the Sewer Board Members who opposed doing this expansion at the Rate Payer's expense. The current are all onboard with the expansion and the cost for this being picked up by the ESPA. In most towns, it is the developer who pays for this, not the taxpayers.

This is just another example of the Township Committee and the Current ESPA members pushing for taxpayer funded projects that benefit developers, engineers and attorneys, who finance their campaigns through nefarious methods.

Just one question. Where is the press on this. Is there any reporter worth their salt at the local papers who still do investigative reporting? No I don't think so, instead they write their stories from press releases or information given to them by public officials and never check out the facts before they write about it.

Beverly City Police Committee Vote to Suspend Sgt. Pearce

The City Council was told last night that the City Council Police Committee voted to suspend Sgt. Pearce with pay. The suspension was the result of an investigation of Sgt. Pearce's conduct on the job carrying out arrest of people breaking the law.

This action was not voted on by the full City Council. Why? This Reporter was told that this action now clears the way for LC to place his candidate in the Chief's spot after he does away with the Public Safety Director's position.

This action is just another black mark against the revival of Beverly. All you need to do to see this fact is look at the BCT story (link) today about the increase in crime in Burlington County to see that Beverly is going to miss Sgt. Pearce and his dedication to seeing that the Drug Dealers and Gang Members that are taking over the City are shown the door to the city and not given the keys to the city as certain Council Leaders would like.

Now Beverly taxpayers, look for another lawsuit and the loss of a police officer who cared.

Tony best, of luck and your dedication will be missed and you have the support of citizens who care.

Some more good news Beverly, your City Council voted to except more money for Apartment Rehabs. Just what the City needs. Forty percent of the housing stock is rentals. This fact alone explains why the City has the problems it does.

It is the same promises made by all five members of the Edgewater Park Township Committee.

You just got your new 2009 property tax bill and your new sewer bill. Did yours go down or stay the same? No! Well keep voting the same way each election and you will not be disappointed by the results, your taxes will never go down or stay the same. They will continue to increase at a rate greater then the rate of inflation.

One last thing Edgewater Park, the Planning Board will give final approval to a developer to build a Town Home/Condo complex on the old Drive Inn/Kings property.

The township committee claims that the project will be age restricted with some units classified as affordable housing.

Just remember this fact! The current elected state legislators and governor, are proposing that if a developer cannot market his development to enough seniors, the developer can appeal to a judge asking them to repeal the senior requirement for the development.

If you think this senior requirement will protect us from more school children and higher taxes you are sadly mistaken.

Just remember the NJ state history of affordable housing planning and the reason Edgewater Park has so many apartments and condos. It is because the former township planning boards believed the NJ state legislators back in the 1960's and 70's when they (legislators) told local elected officials that the town would never have to maintain the streets, drainage ponds or pay for street lighting and trash pick-up if they approved zoning allowing the building of these multifamily units. This was a way of encouraging the building of affordable housing in the state at that time.

Lets see, Edgewater Park changed its zoning and allowed builders to build 1/3 of the township residential housing as apartments, 1/3 of the township housing to be built as condos and the remaining township residential housing to be built as single family homes.

And what was our reward for doing this? No credit for any of the multifamily homes built before the 1980's and a requirement to build more affordable housing units.

Do you really trust your elected officials when they tell you that this new project will only have seniors. If you want to see how this requirement works just ride around Silver Park and see the units that have families living in them that are under 55 years of age.

The Edgewater Park Reporter learned that Beverly City's Administrator, Barbara Sheip has unexpectedly resigned effective immediately! More on this as it unfolds.

The Edgewater Park Reporter has also learned of a dust up between Burlington City Business Administrator Eric Berry and Mayor Jim Fazzone. The dust up was over Mayor Fazzone wanting Eric to rehire a City Employee who left City Hall under police escort several months ago. Mr Berry is out on temporary medical leave.

Maybe Eric should speak to Beverly Cities "Car 54's" friend, the "Medicinal Salesman" about some good hallucinogens to help him mellow out and overlook a few things.

What a week, Michael Vick with the Eagles, Buono with "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", they made me do it line, Beverly's Administrator quiting and Burlington City Administrator out on medical leave because of pressure from the Mayor.

I'm writing this letter, infuriated, with the news that our illustrious edgewater park school board, which passed the new budget I might add, (almost topping 14 million dollars for the fiscal year) took on a new PART TIME employee this season, working only TWO days a week in the maintenance dept. soley as an Heating and Air Conditioning specialist??? WTF you might ask??? Well after digging into this and speaking with a LOT of my former school personnel, this new "employee" so to speak, was hired on to complete projects that the school district back burnered through-out the year due to his previous status of being the schools primary HVAC contractor and achieving the states public bidding threshold as defined in N.J.S.A 18:18A-3.

What better to do after a school district can't pay-out anymore money to you on your company side? Hire you as an employee making almost MORE than the regular maintenance men do working full time!!!! WHAT A CROCK!!!

Who is this you ask??? Try John Stidfole of Stidfole & Associates, Chestnut Street, Beverly NJ.

The public employees database is not current with 2009 employees but ask anyone! His wife Michelle however IS an employee for the Burlington Twp. School district as indicated in the database.

Now this may not mean a lot to some people, but when I read between the lines on this one I see the infamous streckenbien administration trying to pull the wool over our eyes once again utilizing taxpayers money.

Hire the same contractors to do the work every year.

When the work's done or they're topped out hire them as an employee.

Pay them to fix & maintain everything they've already been paid to install.

Makes sense to me doesn't it??? Why do we even have a maintenance dept. then?

I'm sick of it. Over and over again. The last time they did this was when they let all of the kitchen help go and hired a private food industry to cater the school district! Maybe you didn't know about that one also! Feel free to ask around about our great schools. Perhaps the state may increase the number of pay to play figures to 45 or even 46 when it's all said and done.

Also this Reporter has learned that homes on Church have been robbed several times in a short period of time. The Edgewater Park 2009 Budget

The 7/24/09 BCT Story on Edgewater Park, talks about how the owner of a home assessed at the township average will see an increase of about $72 a year to their municipal taxes.

The BCT call this "In exchange for a modest increase in the local purpose tax, township officials were able to adopt a budget that postponed planned layoffs and furloughs, at least for this year."

Our municipal tax rate will increase 7¢ from $0.981 to $1.054 per $100 of assessed value.

The following points are items I think need to be addressed by the Edgewater Park Township Committee because of the percentage increase each of the items represent in this 2009 budget.

1. Surplus Anticipated is down $115,207 from 2008, $989,793 in 2009 $1,105,000 in 2008.

2. In the 2008 budget the township collected $366,526 (6.4%) more in revenue then projected in the 2008 budget.

3. Municipal Clerk Salaries & Wages up $15,170, $76,855 2009 $61,685 2008 a 24.6% increase.

4. General Admin dropped $20,906 because one employee moved to Financial Admin. which increased $10,481, and a decrease of temp employees.

5. Audit Services increased $2.000 $27,500 to $29,500. This is an outside Auditor who donates to the election campaigns of the Township Committee members.

6. Employee Group Insurance increased $32,500 from $449,000 to $481,500 a 7.24% increase.

7. Police Dept. Salaries decreased $36,397.

8. Public Works Salaries decreased $8,316.

9. First Aid Squad-Contribution increased $7,000 (28%).

10. Park & Recreation Functions decreased $23,300 (63%).

11. Municipal Court Salaries decreased $4,286 (3.9%).

12. Senior Citizen Transportation decreased $500 (33%).

13. Environmental Committee decreased $5,700 (85%).

14. Reserve for Uncollected Taxes decreases $5,493 (1.3%) in a recession, uncollected taxes increase not decrease. The municipality collects taxes for the School District, County and Fire District and must pay those taxing districts even though the municipality doesn't collect the tax. The reserve is to protect the municipality from having to take money from other budget line items if the tax collections are less then what is projected.

15. The Open Space Tax revenue is $31,032. It has been the practice of the past Township Committees to use that revenue for field maintenance, $24,785 in 2008, and not the purchase of properties to be preserved as open space. I don't know if this means that the 2009 Open Space Tax Revenues collected will be used for field maintenance because it doesn't say so on sheet 43 of the 2009 Budget, but in the 2009 budget the Park & Recreation line item decreased by $23,300. After 8 years of collecting $210,655 for the Open Space Tax, $141,352 is left and that is included in the Surplus Account of $989,793 on Sheet 4 of the 2009 Budget .

16. The Municipal Debt Service increased $53,500 (16%).

17. 2009 Budget Revenues are down $18,654 (.00324%) from 2008.

18. 2009 Budget Appropriations (spending) are down $34,654 (.006%).

Check the 2009 Budget against the 18 highlighted items shown above. Comment on any items we may have over looked so that we can all understand why our local municipal Local Purpose Tax keeps increasing at a rate far greater than the rate of inflation.

Please read YBFF's comment response (located at the end of this Post) to the 7/20/09 Blog Post. It is an example of one of the tamer comments that are sent from this same person who goes by many names such as, YBFF, BFF, doggy dog, farmer jim, just me, Ha Ha Ha Ha, Anonymous and many other pseudonyms.

The apparent reason YBFF likes to spend hours sending comments to this Blog, is to try and insult, impugn, misdirect and distort the Postings and readers of this blog.

As you can see from YBFF's comment below, this individual thinks, that the Edgewater Park Happenings Blog will die because when, and I quote him, "But soon Sparky you will see that it has been I keeping your blog alive, it's death will come when I get to tired of your follies".

Wow, what conceit!

YBFF also uses threats towards people he thinks are behind this blog or those besides himself, that comment on this blog, that he will expose them with any personal dirt he thinks will destroy them, because they dare to be critical of our elected and appointed officials. He doesn't get it, the people involved with this blog are not elected or appointed officials who are running our town and responsible for the finical condition the town finds itself in currently. If your comment is in agreement with a posted story, then in his opinion, it is written by The Reporter or the person is a moron.

I took the liberty to remove the initials of the individual who YBFF threatens in his last two sentences. The initials are of someone who works for the township and has never spoken to The E.P. Reporter or its staff about anything concerning the township except for official business.

I know it must be difficult for YBFF to understand, but it doesn't take much work to get the information legally, that is the bases of this Blog's Post Reports.

YBFF you can verify the information in this Blog by spending less time sending comments, and more time using the links provided in the Blog to check the facts posted here.

As far as the contributions by consultants to our local elected officials (in answer to your question YBFF), there are many ways to do this and not report it in the Elect Reports. An example of such a practice is being given tickets to attend professional sports events in the comfort of supper boxes and all the amenities that go along with them by our elected/appointed officials. The receiving of a gift that is delivered each Christmas to their homes.

You won't find these nice little expensive gifts and tickets listed on the NJ State Mandated Finical Disclosure Forms, nor the many lunches, dinners or social events paid for by professional firms (this includes consultants) but, each of our EP elected/appointed officials accept every year.

YBFF, it would not be too difficult for you to check this information out. If you attended any of the township meetings and asked meaningful questions, you would then understand how the public is treated in those meetings when they ask tough questions.

Below is the comment that caused me to publish this post . I altered YBFF's comment by removing the initials in the next to last sentence and replaced them with two ?? marks. If you are familiar with our township employees and their names, it would not be too difficult to figure out who's reputation YBFF is trying to smear, so I removed them.
