Subject: Beverly Up in smoke?

Dear Edgewater Park Reporter,

I was reading my morning paper and noticed inside an article about medical marijuana bill, a story about the Assembly passing a change to Beverly's Charter. Perhaps it was an oversight or perhaps the reporter knows our former local medicinal provider.

The passing of the two bills could be renamed the "Lou Crespo Special" being the medical marijuana bill AND the radical changes to Beverly were approved. I have to wonder if the Assembly members took a smoke break and were in such a haze that the Beverly issue didn't even matter.

Mayor Cook wants to reduce elections in Beverly. Hello? it's called accountability. So if Beverly is going down the drain we have to wait four or five years before we can voice our opinions at the polls. We all have seen that public comments don't sway the members, they do as they please. But what if they Really got out of hand? Oh well, wait until 2015....

Also the article states transitional terms may be "one, four, and five years"? Really, why doesn't Crespo just ask for 10 to 20? I am sure he is used to hearing those terms.

I think I'll go have a democrat brownie now and forget all the troubles of the world...

Another overburdened Beverly Taxpayer

i was at a sewage authority meeting in edgewater park tonight.the reason i was there was to answers to my questions about my bathroom window that has not worked properly since my sewer mess in 2007. our street was redone in 2001 and my home was never reconnected to the main. it took that long for the dirt and debris to build up at the end of my line and caused enough pressure in the line to burst a pipe under my home and cause my ENTIRE crawl space to be filled with raw sewage. the authority did fix the problem after 2 weeks but my window still does not work properly. my family and i did sign a release but my window still does not work. they have sent at least 3 "teams" of people out to look at my foundation. originally, i wanted all the problems fixed but i just want my window to close which i did tell the last group out to my house and also the people that work at the authority office. when i went to the meeting and asked when does it cost more to fix the problem than it does to send all these people out i got a run around answer. then after some arguement i asked wouldn't it make sense for these people to look at the window, it got very heated. the only answer i got was they are not contractors. i was not asking the question as a contractor i was asking the question as a common sense question. would it not make sense to look at the window that was causing all these problems??? i was told that was enough and that i was done. when i pointed out that it is public session the meeting was suddenly over. i was so mad that i stormed out and slammed the door HARD. i just want my window fixed.

It sounds like you should be concerned about the toxic chemicals that have penetrated every molecule of your environment that you live in....your house is worthless, did the state DEP check your house out by running air pumps and take samples of your wood and flooring and check for heavy metals and other things that just dont go away....if this is a true story your house is a toxic waste dump no matter what kind of cleanup they did,did you get a lawyer to protect your interests?[one that specializes in environmental law]..the sewage authority owes you a new house after the soil has been determined to be free of contamination, if you want to rebuild on the same site...If you dont clear this up now and try to sell your house and you must give complete disclosure when selling, good luck, nobody will buy it with that history, when I firt read about your problem i thought it must be a joke but if this is real get our house checked by the state and by a private, reliable, environmental company at the sewage companies expense....you may be living in your own little Love Canal disaster, diseases can develop year later related to the situation you were subjected to

to me, i would have made them buy my house for market value. i don't think i could have gone thru what you went thru. my question is, who paid for the clean up of your house, the sewage authority or the company that was doing the connections and did not complete the job correctly??? i would be curious, and as a tax payer am i entitled to find out???
