Edgewater Park Sewerage Authority Menage-a-Trois

My My we have quite a story written in the July Beverly Bee by the Sewer Authority Chairmen, Dave LeVay.

Chairman Dave states that the Sewerage Authority has relocated its office from the Municipal Building to the shopping center at the corner of Cooper and Green St. across from "The Farm".

Chairman Dave gives the new expanded business hours of 9 AM till 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday and the reason for this was to provide better service to the residents and businesses.

Chairman Dave states this move was done because the township decided not to renew the Authorities lease that was due to expire at the end of the year.

Chairman Dave has misinformed the readers on this point. The township committee and mayor sent the Authority an eviction notice, and a copy of that notice was published on this blog, giving the Authority till August 30, 2008 to vacate. The following is a link to a copy of that and other letters concerning the eviction- http://www.lpenj.org/OGTF/EPSA.pdf.

Chairman Dave goes on to explain the personal changes that have taken place with the Sewer Authority. As a resident and sewer tax payer, I found it interesting that Chairman Dave doesn't explain why it took three people, a Menage-a-Trois, to replace two employees.

Chairman Dave goes to great lengths to explain how all of the additional expenses for moving, new employees, additional hours for payroll, additional cost for the employee benefits, additional utility cost, additional rent, additional legal cost and potential new equipment, are not going to affect the current sewerage rates.

Chairman Dave is right on this point, because what he didn't tell you is that the rates have been set for this year (2008), and it is next year that the rates will see the affects of all this new spending.

Chairman Dave also explains that the move was
provided for by surplus funds in the budget. What Chairman Dave didn't tell you was that the Auditor stated in his verbal comments, made while presenting his 2007 audit report to the Authority Members at the Authorities  2008 budget meeting, that the Authority lost money during the 2007 operating year, and based on the expected increases in operating expenses for 2008, the Authority should consider increasing the sewer tax to offset those increased cost. The Auditor's comments were made prior to the unplanned additional cost associated with the move, additional employees and legal cost Chairman Dave spoke about in his article.

Chairman Dave and the Authority are about to do to the Edgewater Park sewer tax payers, what the Township Committee did to the Edgewater Park taxpayers over the past 4 years. Chairman Dave and the Authority, will deplete the surplus for day to day expenses and then increase the sewer taxes next year to cover the additional operating expenses for this year.

Did you also see were Chairman Dave and the Authority also want the Sewer Authority Rate Payers to also pay to expand sewers to areas of Edgewater Park that do not have sewer now? This is a great deal for Developers, so now they can build residential high density housing on land that was supposed to be preserved for farmland or open space, and who now will not need to pay for that expenses, and we the Sewer Tax Payers get to pick up the tab.
Remember Chairman Dave was also Chairman of the Planning Board that gave 50% reductions in buffer zones between the Commercial Development on Rt 130 and the residential housing in Orchard Estates. What a great Sewer Chairman and Lap-Dog for Mayor Judy and Committee.

I can't wait for the August Edition of the Bee.

I heard a rumor that now since the current township committee & sewer committee got rid of the girls from the office and replaced them with their own lap dogs, that they are now going to pay the sewer office workers benefits. Is this true? Look into that one EP Reporter. This tax paying resident would love to know.

P.S.
Why hasn't Edewater Park introduced a new budget yet? Maybe they should get some of the animals from the Cooper street Farm to start doing some calculations then maybe something will get accomplished.

How can we expect new residential development if we do not have sewers? How can we expect our taxes to go down unless we have new residential housing. I think any one who thinks it is bad to build more housing is a snob. How are our children going to get a home of their own if we stop the building of new homes.

to anonymous at 9:08pm:

Taxes do not go down because of new residential housing. If anything new residential housing causes our taxes to go up. You want businesses to come into town to help lower taxes and create more tax rateables. Of course if the residents keep electing the same idiots into office they'll keep allowing businesses to move in giving them tax amnesty just like the Burlington Coat Factory deal.

People are continually complaining about the school taxes but yet here you are saying we need more housing, to bring in more families with more kids, who guess what? You got it, will attend our schools causing the school taxes to go up and up.

I for one think Edgewater Park has enough housing. Where the hell do you want to put more residential housing at? Your probably one of the lap dogs the Edgewater Reporter talks about.

To the anonomous non snob,
Why should we pay for sewer lines for rich developers? Taxes do not go down from new residential developement! If that were true Delran & Burl. Twp. would have no taxes at all! Just another lie developers tell politicians who then tell residents. Why don't her children buy one of the many already built homes now for sale in EP. Sorry non snob, no offense given to you but think this all the way thru. You're believing the lies politicians all over NJ tell you. Only the developer & the politican they bribe gain anything by putting up so many houses. Wake up before you're in the poor house!

E.P. Reporter,

You don't know how close to the bone you are with your title. If you dig into things your and the residents might be suprised.

To anonymous-Now I know why the scholastic scores for the school district have dropped so much in the past several years. With parents like you it explains the test scores. We don't have a chance to get good intelligent people elected.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 9:08..First off, it is the builders responsibility to pay for the sewer lines for new housing. The price is then incorporated into the cost the homeowner pays for the home. This is how it is done in most, if not, all the other towns.

If you think I am a snob because I realize that new residential housing does not lower taxes, then you are IGNORANT for thinking otherwise. For example, how much have your taxes gone down since 1995 when "Silver Park" residential housing began and now consists of 167 residences? Mine have gone up pretty much every year with new residential housing. Don't get me wrong, I realize our seniors need places to go with their maintenance issues handled, but don't be a fool thinking this will lower your taxes. Edgewater Park needs to attract business revenues that will not strain the municiple budget.

Also, why do your children have to have brand new homes? Do you realize how many children have bought brand new homes and are now in the process of foreclosures because they cannot afford the costs with new homes? Keep up with the news on the economy!

Why would anyone want to serve in any capacity when all they get is grief? Apparently only those who post on here have any good sensible ideas! I used to be involved with the Republican Party in Edgewater Park and Burlington County but the corruption and dishonestly is not limited to one party. I have friends in other towns and here in Edgewater Park we have taxes that are as low or lower than most others. Same goes for sewer rates. The residential roads in this town are a disgrace! For the most part they were built in the 1950s and 60s and nothing much has been done to them since then. Lets hear some ideas to improve things. Unless we propose something new we won't get elected. Just not being the other guy isn't enough to win elections. Lets hear some ideas!!!!

What idiot would think that more residential housing would lower taxes. Anyone with half a brain would know that residential housing does not lower taxes! Please people get educated.

Anonymous said...

That's the problem Bill, these people who vote in the elections are not educated. I think people should have to take an IQ test before being allowed to vote.

Anonymous said...

anonymous- your friends must live in Beverly, Willingboro, Burlington City and all the towns who have been mismanaged like Camden City. Our taxes are not even close to being the lowest, but your comment just shows that as someone stated earlier; this explains why this bunch of committee officials keep getting elected and why the test scores are so low for the schools.

To former EP resident:

Sounds like you may know a tidbit or more regarding this story's title. I'm guessing your refering to the threesome part of the title. Maybe you could share a little info or give some clues where to dig. We can do a little on line detective work here.

Hey EP reporter,

I heard at the municipal building recently that the new girl hired by the sewer office was fired by the township in the past but they wouldn't say why.. Does anyone know why she was fired? And if she was fired, why would she be rehired by an EP authority? Please look into it will you.

Anonymous said...

Go on the State Election Site and see how much money the Sewer Attorney has given to our elected committeeman's campaigns. No wonder his billing has more than doubled what the former attorney billed. What goes around comes around and they have to pay the man!

Anonymous said...

Do the Sewer Board Members get paid, if so how much and do they receive benefits?

Anonymous said...

I heard that one of the previous ladies who worked at the Sewer Authority was on TV dancing on top of the Phillies dugout feeling pretty good. What kind of people do they hire?

Anonymous said...

To Anonymous 5:22

You heard wrong! I was not dancing on top of the dugout...I had front row seats, watching the game which had nothing to do with my job. I was with my husband, cousin, her daughter and her mother-in-law and my sons girlfriend. Yes I was having a good-time watching the Phillies beat the Braves 5-4 (on tues May 13th). I was shown on tv in the 9th inning cheering for the Phils. So I guess I was having a good time. It's always a good feeling watching the hometown boys win.

I think that you are a bunch of old farts who talk about each other behind their backs. You would think that you have hit maturity by now. What else where they supposed to put in that empty lot.?? Another getto latino grocery store?? i don't think so. Because no matter what they build in edgewater park your going to complain. Isn't it mostly about the kids any way?? I have heard wayy more bickering from the adults than the children. Why don't you people descuse ways to make the public schooling better? Or mabe getting children off the streets.? You all wonder why the children are out of hand. They usually take after thir parents. Stop descusing unimportant weekly gossip. If your that dramtic read a mag. When leaving comments and blogs on a small town gossip page becomes your daily job that screams. GET A LIFE! O p.s I find it funny how all of you sign yourselves anonymous. haha. Wow! Well grow up. Have a few Bq's go out get lives your pitiful..:(
Signed:14 year old child that hit maturity faster than all these people!!!! :)

Hey 14 year old child:

If all of us are losers for reading and posting to this blog then what the hell are you doing on it? Oh and if your so intelligent what does descuse spell? I don't believe that is a word in the English dictionary.

Oh yes it is sad that it has come to this, that the residents of EP need to read a blog site to get the real story and truth. Until people wise up, do some research and get the facts unfortunately we're all stuck here in this blogging world to voice our frustrations.

You see 14 year old child this is whats great about our country: It's called FREEDOM OF SPEECH and if you don't like what's being written on the blog site then don't read it. It's as simple as that. My, my certain people seem to get very defensive from some of these posts. Could it be that 14 year old child is a committee member?

Oh yeh and before I end I guess you find yourself funny also since you signed your name anonymous too.

Anonymous said...

Way to go John, you hit the nail on the head. I think that person needs to go back to school to learn some spelling and english.
I will sign my name.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Sen Graham had it right when he said we are a nation of whiners!

Anonymous said...

DID I GET THAT RIGHT?

The EPSA contributed to the campaign of an elected official????

OOPPS, I do not believe that IS ALLOWED WITH PUBLIC FUNDS.
If that is true, someone did a bad thing.
I'm 10 years old....that's what my wife says....lol.

Anonymous said...

so there were two interesting things in the newspaper this week. One..the EPSA is advertising for an Executive Director/Operator. Does anyone in EP qualify for that?

Two...wooohoo! The twp is only laying off 2 part-time workers. Imagine that! Do part-time workers get the same benefits as full-time workers?

And yeah yeah....you know who is writing this...

I agree that residential development usually does not lower taxes or the tax rate. However the claim that developers pay for sewer lines is not the case here! I live in a fairly large residential development off Perkins Lane and we do not have sewer lines. No sidewalks for that matter either. If the developers don't pay for sewer lines and the township doesn't who will? The cost for individual residents is prohibitive. Maybe if the developers, like the one that built where I live, weren't so cozy with the township officials we would get a fair deal.

Anonymous said...

Ask the Fisher's how they got their sewer line because they are the only ones in their neighborhood that have sewer and not septic.

Anonymous said...

The Fisher's paid for sewer. No one gave it to them.

Anonymous said...

yeah John, that's my point!

Anonymous said...

If I were the Fisher's or anyone else that paid to have sewer put in and let me just say they are out there, I would demand that the Authority reimburse all of those people!

Anonymous said...

Hey bill,
If the Fisher's or anyone else has sewer lines why should they be reimbursed? Are you suggesting free sewer service for everyone?? haha

Anonymous said...

I paid $40,000 to hook-up to the public sewer system here, only to be ripped-off by the "Sewer Authority" that charged me for 4 permits for a single line hook-up, because I have a multi-family home. That was on top of the fact that they quoted me for one permit before I bought the property - knowing that it was a multi-family.
I will bet EVERYONE at the "Sewer Authority" that they will be paying me back a lot of money in the very near future.
Sleep well Sewer sleeze, because the sleepless nights are coming sooner than you know..........

the edgewater park township committee r setting themselves up for disaster. they have put themsellves in a place where they are officially unliked by the kids of EP. They have taken away ou everyday activites that we use toi love. Basketball in the streets, street hockey. I mean we went to play man hunt up at the school and they made us leave it was not passed curfue and we were not doing anything but having fun. But na we cant have fun that would just be wrong. I mean they r turning this place into a place for old people(no offense to oldes) but this town use to be fun not anym0re, kids that use to play basketball not harming anyone have nothing to do but think and its not good when u give a teen time to thimk cause then we try to do things that r bad or misgif. Its almost like the want us to do that stuff like that. we need new people to take charge of this town. this commettee is so lucky kids cant vote or they would not be in office........

At first I was a little "put-off" seeing a bunch of 14 yr olds posting here, but after review, I think it is a positive thing.
Nice to see kids getting involved in debate & caring about their community.
I constantly tell parents to take better care of their children, because they will be dependent on those same kids one day. A good bunch of my co-workers have two fulltime jobs: one paying job & one taking care of their elderly parent. So heed the kid's warning. As one can see through history, it almost always is the "little thing" that causes the biggest problem.

I just read in the BCT last week that Beverly isn't the only town that held down their taxes. Do you people here in EP get it yet??? Our town is grossly mismanaged. Please go out and vote for a change. We desperately need one. Let's also get rid of our sorry excuse of an administrator. If we can have a change in control here then we can get rid of her!!!!

Anonymous said...

yes sir i agree we should vote out the democrtas and put in some republican edgewater park is awlasys making the mastakes to put a democrate in office we should get out and vote the admin out and get a change around

well i think that the problem of edgewater park is the mayor she needs to be voted out now
