Edgewater Park Committee To Layoff Employees

The E.P. Reporter was told tonight of plans by the Edgewater Park Township Committee and Administrator to layoff two Public Works and one Office Employee
This information may be discussed by committee at the Township Meeting Tue., May 19, 7pm.

The big question is, will this action by committee still mean that they and the Administrators still go to the Municipal Convention in November on the taxpayers dime and the backs of the Employees who are going to be laid off??
The residents and employees of Edgewater Park would be better served if the Big Cheese Administrator and her salary were put on hold, because she is responsable for the financial condition that the township is in. Big Cheese tells the Township Committee what to do and they do it no questions asked. Just look at the tax increases record the Big Cheese has rung up since being appointed Administrator.

I know MBF, you don't want the readers of this Blog to be confused by the facts. You want Zombie Citizens, who think they can get all the the facts that matter, in the Bee.

Stay tuned.

The mayor obviously gave no thought to patriotism or how veterans would feel over canceling EP's participation in the Mem. Day ceremony. All the big thinkers and not one could come up with requesting volunteer fire police as traffic control instead of Police O/T. It just wasn't important enough an issue like Fall Fest to expend any additional energy or thoughts on. In other words they had nothing to gain from it so it's gone just like many of the other community type gathering festivities, but they all collect their pay & some even raises for a poorly managed town. Oh and yes I'll bet they still go to A/C & party unless too many residents find out how selfish they really are in tough times.

To much cheese is bad for you. That is the problem.

How about the 2 or 3 women in the office who get a stipend to take care of "events".
The word is that they would have to be paid overtime for working at the start of the parade even though they get extra pay for taking care of planning it during their normal working hours. Why are they receiving extra pay for doing something they apparently have time to do anyway during their routine work time.

There were several towns in South Jersey that tried furoulghs and layoffs but were told they can't do them unless they raise the taxes. The state has put a limit on the much one township or city can raise the taxes (4%) but in emergency situations it can go up to 6%. I don’t live in Edgewater Park but trust me I have seen the way everyone on the board present and past has messed up things. The committee now needs to get there heads on straight and worry about next year because this year is already a wash. What are doing for the long term interest of the township?

Why does the mayor even speak, she useless like (I can’t type it) on a cow. The township administrator needs get her head out of ruining her business during the day and worry about the township. They are so worried about what they can get for themselves, how do we look, rather then, WHAT CAN WE DO FOR YOU.

Maybe I missed it but what is the township committee giving up?

Big Cheese? More like rotten moldy smelly cheese. When you have a tax increase record like the Administration/Committee, it's time to through the old cheese out.

Are some of the crossing guards being laid off, because I was told that two are to get pink slips.

First it is 5 people effected by the layoffs. 2 public workers, 1 clerk typist and 2 crossing guards. "Demotion" of Street Superintendent to equipment operator/supervising laborer. With this "demotion" this employee keeps all his perks and salary. This is basically just a title change and is not a demotion. He will have to work once in a while now, like empty trash cans or mow some grass. One clerk will be part time instead of full time. Linda wants to consolidate public work services with another town (Beverly?). She also wants to contract out services that normally would be down by township employees. In the long run this will cost the township more money and we will have half assed work done by companies that have no interest in this town. The township is also pushing to furlough one Wednesday a month for all employees. No services and town hall closed. Judy Hall and Kevin Johnston along with Linda are behind this mess. They have no compassion for the employees and township residents of Edgewater Park. They are hell bent on doing what they want. And yes EPR, I'm certain they will be at the convention in November.
Expect more surprises from Linda and the committee. And residents, don't bitch if you can't get someone to help you at town hall, or you have to walk your kids to school or your road isn't plow and the grass isn't cut. Call Linda, write her and the committee. show up at the meetings, tell them you want all your services. That's what your taxes are for! Be heard!

Anyone who thinks consolidation costs more money is an idiot! Should I be surprised you fools think it will be? Naaa I guess not. After all any change is bad right? BTW have you figured out how to use a microwave yet?

To the Anonymous Idiot who commented today.
You should do a little research on consolidation. Consolidation doesn't always save money for towns and there have been articles recently published in the PI and BCT about some towns reconsidering shaired services or consolidation because the promised savings have not materialized for those towns. Also look at the per pupil cost for large school districts versus small districts, it might open your eyes but then again we all must not be as smart as you, in your eyes.

I think shared services is a great idea. Delanco has a nice township building located in a great place. We could get rid of Linda and use their adminstrator and staff. Our public works could work under Delanco's. Works for me!

then are you suggesting we name change Edgewater park to Delanco since you think it would be a great idea to merge services with them??

Now may be the time to RECONSOLIDATE Edgewater Park and Delanco the way they were until the 1920's. Seems everything worked fine then so why not now.

Now may be the right time to go back to Delanco and Edgewater Park as one community the way it was in the early 1900's

Almost EVERY answer to current problems, can be found in the past. Everything from poverty to gun violence was dealt with before in this country, yet we continually try to reinvent the wheel.
Last I heard, EP made it through the great depression, lol? Only difference than was you probably had smarter, more knowledgeable, honorable people running the town?
How many jobs is ONE over-paid Administrator's salary taking up?

Nobody seems to understand. Linda gets most of her salary for being the CLERK not for the administrator position.
Remove her as administrator and you still will have a TENURED high paid clerk who will still have a paid deputy clerk to do her work for her.
That's what happens when you let someone put her own pay into the
salary ordinance.

Hey Reader! Key words there "doesn't always". It's worth a try. It can always be reconsiderd right? Oh yea I'm sure I'm smarter than you!

Wishfull thinking that Delanco would consolidate with us. Beverly is far more likely.
